Current Events Assignment
It is very important for people to know and understand the events that are happening across the globe. Thus, you are required to do a current event assignment for this class. This is a weekly assignment designed to have you read an article from a newspaper or a magazine and to analyze that article. You are to include the following criteria in your assignment.
- Topic-1 pt.
- What is the topic of your article?
- What is the title of your article?-1 pt.
- What is the title of your article Exact wording.
- Article source-1 pt.
- Where did you get the article?
- Summary-2 pts.
- Briefly, and in your own words, summarize your article
- 3 sentence minimum
- 5. Reaction-10 pts.
- Take a position on the issue contained in this article.
- How do you feel about this event?
- How does this event affect you?
- 5 sentence minimum
- 6. World Impact-10 pts.
- How does this event impact the world?
- 5 sentence minimum
Cut out or photocopy the article and attach it with your own written thoughts. If you do not include the article, the assignment is worth half credit. More credit may be earned if you present your assignment to the class, if time allows us.
This is not a critique of whether the article is good or bad. This assignment is a reasoned opinion of the issue presented and to get you to explore your attitudes/thoughts/beliefs on various topics of the world. Your opinions are not cast in stone, nor need they be, but you should make a commitment on the issue. Your opinion should be thought out using the present information and your personal views.
The value will be worth 25 points each. You will receive one daily grade and one test grade from the 8 assignments that will take place over the nine weeks.
